Since its adoption in 2019, Bail Reform has allowed a rise in crime to take hold of this state. In that time, we've also seen an increase in calls for defunding of law enforcement. Between restricting the special discretion of local justices and inhibiting local law enforcement from carrying out their duties to protect our communities, the rise in crime statewide is unacceptable. I will continue to fight for common sense reform.
In recent years, serious issues have emerged concerning our public schools. From declining test scores to progressive "woke" curricula seeking to indoctrinate students, it is time for fundamental change. As your Assemblyman, I continue to promote initiatives like "Back to Basics", to improve reading and math proficiency, and oppose changes to the state's Foundation Aid formula that will result in reduced funding received by Central New York school districts.
We’ve entered into a period of economic uncertainty, with inflation being the highest it’s been in 40 years. Our state needs to step up and provide relief, which includes adopting a temporary state sales tax pause on essential goods like gas, food, and household supplies
I have opposed tax increases on New York families and businesses. Our tax burden is already far too high. Your hard earned money cannot be used to quench Albany’s thirst.
We must restore New York’s fiscal health, and a key part is freezing and reducing state spending. I have worked to limit state spending - - our families cannot endlessly spend - - and neither should Albany.
We must stop the state over-regulation and business-killing taxes, mandates and rules. Every state and local ‘good idea’ is usually just another hurdle, another barrier to entry for the business owner or entrepreneur who just wants to get started, provide a quality good or service, and hire other hardworking New Yorkers to grow and expand the business. Let’s bring jobs, families and business back to New York.
Farming and manufacturing are the foundation of the Central New York economy. New York government should stop it’s over regulation, and let these key sectors of our economy flourish to provide the steady, well paying jobs that help underpin the service and retail jobs that round out a strong, stable economy.
The lifeblood of our communities – the small business that provides nursery stock for your home garden, hardware and do it yourself supplies for your home. Your local pharmacy, grocery, hair salon or barber, your local garage or auto dealer; all businesses and others that are here to provide the goods and services that we use every day. New York government has not been business and family friendly for decades - - we can do better! All you have to do is talk with a business owner in another state to see how needlessly hard it is here - - and more expensive here - - to provide what we need to live prosperous lives. We must unshackle small business - - get New York government out of the way - - so each family can afford to stay here, instead of moving to where the pastures are greener - - and less costly.
As a member of the Board of Directors of the Onondaga County Soil & Water Conservation District, the preservation of our clean, pure waters and fertile soil on the surrounding hills are of special importance to me. Abundant, clean water is one of the chief assets we as Central New Yorkers are blessed with, for our health, economy and recreation. I will work to protect our environment and access to this special resource.
New York already has far too many restrictions on our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Citizens of almost every other state are shocked when they see the restrictions imposed by an overzealous, conniving state government in New York. Passing the Safe Act in the middle of the night - - Unconscionable. I will fight in Albany to reduce state restrictions on your constitutional rights – across the board.
I am a pro-life Republican, and do not support state funding or state encouragement of abortion.
